Imagine receiving a loaf of beautiful, hand crafted, freshly baked bread. Sent from a friend and delivered to your door. For a special occasion or just to say hello....Or why not treat yourself, everyone deserves delicious bread.
Spread the Loaf is a small Hitchin-based company that has been running since May 2020.
However the story starts much earlier.
For the past 30 years, I have worked within the arts industry. Firstly as a dancer, then as a trapeze artist, and, for the past 10 years, as a choreographer and director. On March 16th this year, everything ground to an abrupt halt for me as far as my profession is concerned, and it looks as if our theatres will remain dark for the foreseeable future.
So what to do?
Well, it’s time for another reinvention of myself.
I have always enjoyed cooking, and a dear friend of mine sent me her recipe for challah bread. It was so delicious that I decided to make some for friends. Their reactions led me to the idea of giving bread as gift. I started with just a few simple Challahs and now have expanded the options to Rye Bread, Gluten free Brown and have plans for my Chilli and Chocolate Challah to join the menu soon.
I think that bread brings comfort to those that eat it and to those that make it. In these troubling times, maybe the simplest of gestures could mean the most.
So check out the website and treat someone to a delicious surprise, or treat yourself. Everyone deserves delicious bread.
